Victoria Beckham – “Let your head go”

I’ve just started uploading all my early Music Video work here. Obviously my modern stuff is a fair bit more polished, but it’s fun to see all this crazy early work from the ’00s.

This is the self-knowingly snarky video for Victoria Beckham’s double-A-side single release. Released in 2003, the track is called “Let your head go” and the promo was directed by Scott Lyon for Oil Factory Films (the legendary music video production company, sadly no longer with us).

I composited the nightmare sequence, putting VB’s head on the body of a spooky crow. We took the stock footage of the crow, slowed it down to 20% of the original speed, then directed Victoria’s head movements (filmed against blue screen) to match the crow. Then once it was sped back up, it gave her that amazing twitchy bird-like movement. I actually got to briefly meet her in the edit and she was lovely – very down to earth. Her exact comment on my work, which tickled me – “I look good as a bird, don’t I?!” 🙂
